New Jersey Future statement on Historic Environmental Justice Legislation
TRENTON, September 18, 2020 — New Jersey Future Executive Director Peter Kasabach released the following statement on the enactment of S232, which would protect overburdened communities from pollutants:
“New Jersey Future applauds Governor Murphy and the sponsors of this landmark environmental justice law. We know there is a direct correlation between disproportionate levels of environmental toxins and adverse health effects in communities of color and low-income communities. This law is a significant step toward protecting our most vulnerable communities and creating a geography of equity in New Jersey.”
